“Probably the best British, Brit Funk album of the early 80’s. Contains both Jazz Funk workouts, soulful ballads, and a few killer instrumentals. Mark King’s bass playing is very Stanley Clark like (not a bad role model to have!) and the synths are really cool; very Grace Jones like in their sound with nice chord changes too. Level 42 have always received acclaim for their musicianship, but they are also really good arrangers which is why they were able to move away from Brit Funk and adapt to changing musical tastes better than their contemporaries.” - Patrick Walsh, AllMusic
