First Kent album I listened to and have come to like more with time. Would’ve given it 4/5 at most after the first year of hearing it but each song becomes more memorable over time strangely. The guitars are magnificent in this, there aren’t any electro synths here, just pure haunting electric and acoustic guitars. The whole album has a clean sleek type of sound and it has a dark winter in a forest type of atmosphere with certain songs.
Jocke Berg’s voice is perfect throughout the entire album… eery sounding in “Max 500” and warmer and deeper sounding in “Klaparen.” I can’t understand the lyrics but I looked some of them up at a site which translates Kent lyrics in English (Google kent awardspace) and even after the translation to English, they seem like great lyrics. “Mannen i den vita hatten” is an amazing album closer. “Klaaren,” “Max 500,” “Palace&Main,” “Du ar anga,” and “400 Slag” would make great radio hit type songs, and everything else in between is a nice blend including the two ballads (“Jarnspoken” and “Rosor & palmblad”) which take a bit longer to like.
Kent went to synths after this album which is fine because they know how to do it but the sound they used on this one is perfect.
