The distinctive pianist Red Garland, tenor saxophonist John Coltrane, and trumpeter Donald Byrd, along with the supportive bassist George Joyner and drummer Art Taylor, perform five jazz standards. Highlights include “Soft Winds,” “Undecided,” and an explosive version of “Two Bass Hit” that foreshadowed the rendition that Trane would record with Miles Davis and Cannonball Adderley the following year.
